This Is The reason Why Rolls Royce Cars Are So Expensive.

Rolls Royce produces some of the most luxurious cars. They are known to produce hand crafted automobiles, that promise a seamless magical carpet ride for its customers. A Rolls Royce car does not come cheap. A brand new Rolls Royce Ghost starts from around $300,000. But with virtually unlimited optional extras, upgrades and customization, the true cost of a Rolls Royce doesn't have any limits. In fact Rolls Royce refuses to even discuss their base prices.

They say that, there isn't really any specific base price for a Rolls Royce because it really depends on the customer and the options that they actually go for. So what are some of these bespoke extras? And is that what makes Rolls Royce so much more expensive? One of the first is the color. They have a palette of 44,000+ colors. It's very unique to Rolls Royce, once you choose a color for you car, it will be registered as your color and if somebody else wants to get the exact finish as yours, Rolls Royce will have to take your permission. When you go to the paint shop, you don't say they are painting the car, because its something more than that. A car is at least going to have seven coats of paint, there's the primer, base coat, paint and at the end you could have at least 28 layers of coating equating in about 45 Kg of weight in just the paint. In addition to the endless amount of l=colors, Rolls Royce customers can customize their paint, by infusing their paint with materials to create special effects. One wealthy customer went one step further, requesting the addition of 1000 diamonds. He wanted a bit more sparkle in his car, so he gave Rolls Royce a bag of diamonds which they crushed and infused into the paint. Even the coach lines on the car are done by hand using a brush made of squirrel hairs, and that's because most brushes available today have artificial hair, that leaves brush marks on the car.

There're several unmistakable features of every Rolls Royce's exterior. The hand made pantheon grill, the self righting weighted wheel caps, and The Spirit Of Ecstasy. In fact in 2003 BMW paid over $63 Billion to acquire Rolls Royce. But its definitely inside the car where the luxury and the cost dramatically increases. To create a virtually silent ride, Rolls Royce adds approximately 300 pounds of acoustic insulation around the cabin. Its tire manufacturers, even developed special foam filled tires that reduce the road noises by 9 decibels. The results were so profound that Rolls Royce removed some sound proofing to avoid causing acoustic sensory deprivation.

Even the dashboard of a Rolls Royce  Phantom can become an art gallery. Customers have commissioned artist to produce all sorts of designs for this space, including gold plated, 3 D printed, stainless steel installation that replicates the customer's DNA profile.

Another highlighting feature of Rolls Royce is it's starlight headliner. An intricate series of fiber optics roof lights that replicate the night sky. It takes up to 16 hours of labor to finish one roof. Each headliner is drilled with around 1,340 holes that needs to be filled with lights, that too by hand. Apart from the normal starlight roof, customers can have their own customization, including randomly generated shooting stars. One customer even had their design matched to exactly replicate the constellation of the stars from the night they were born.

The embroidery on the upholstery is tailor made to the customers design choices. Every single design that's being embroidered is unique to the customer's choice. It's not just scanning in an image and stitching it out. the different angles of the stitch will reflect the light in a different way. So rather than just a flat image, Rolls Royce takes it to the next level to create something like a 3 D effect. The most complex embroidery work is a special Rose Phantom Model, which was done in a Rolls Royce Phantom, that consisted of around 1 million individual stitches.

Rolls Royce has seen a boom in its sales in the last 10 years. In 2019 the sales increased by around 25% to 5,152 units, With the average age of Rolls Royce owners dropping from late 50's to mid 40's. Take Drake for an example, his Bushukan Model, a special edition of the Phantom left the factory at a value of around $700,000. However the customization that drake made including the diamond encrypted OVO Owl instead of the Spirit Of Ecstasy,is thought to have brought the overall price to about $1 million. The most expensive Rolls Royce model ever made was the Sweptail.  The result of a 4 year work, this one of a kind car was reported to cost $13 Million, previously holding the title of the world's most expensive car. While other leading car manufacturers focus on speed, maneuverability,  super light super car status, Rolls Royce cars are expensive for one reason : Luxury.
